City Guide: Our 5 Favorite (Philly) Healthy Spots
Festival friends! Sienna here. If you’re traveling from out of town and want to know where we love love love to find delicious, clean food… HAVE NO FEAR! As Kate likes to say, “give us all of the food”. In no particular order, here are our 5 favorites when it comes to finding healthy food around the city!
One of our favorite cafes, PS & Co, makes some incredible plant-based food/treats as well as never using additives or preservatives to create their delicious food. Personally, I love to grab my mid-afternoon snack here, always opting for some fresh pressed juice, a smoothie, or one of their baked goods. Getting EXTRA specific here; my favorite juice is the UBUD (pineapple, apple, orange, ginger, lemon, turmeric & cayenne) and my favorite smoothie is Almond Elvis (almond butter, banana, cocoa, brazil nut milk & sea salt). This adorable restaurant is located right next to Rittenhouse Square, between 17th & 18th on Locust!
Right around the corner in Rittenhouse Square is Bar Bombon a plant-based Latin flare restaurant. We love everything chips & guac related, and Bar Bombon has us covered. Not only do they have such a cute little atmosphere inside of the restaurant, they have some INCREDIBLE dishes like their Carrots Asada, Repollitos Fritos, & our personal fav the Buffalo Cauliflower Tacos! They even have the most creative drinks... a Beet Margarita!! If you're craving some healthy, plant-based Mexican food, Bar Bombon is definitely a must visit.
Next up, Animo Juice! A cute little stop on 17th & Arch, Animo is both a juice and a burrito bar! How awesome is that? We are obsessed with their acai bowls, in particular, which you can top with anything such as fresh fruit, granola, peanut butter, chia seeds... the list goes on! They have an adorable little set up in their cafe, perfect for grabbing a quick bite with some friends no matter what you're in the mood for!
Don't want to be in Center City? Front Street Cafe is a beautiful cafe in Fishtown serving vegan friendly options for breakfast, lunch and dinner! From a seasoned vet of this amazing restaurant, I've tried just about everything I can on their menu and have NO complaints. Brunch? I personally love their pancakes or their quinoa oat porridge! Lunch or Dinner? Try their Lentil Chili or Spaghetti Squash with Lentil Meatballs! They even have spots throughout the restaurant just to pick up a cup of coffee, smoothie or juice and get some work done!
Last but certainly not least, located right next to Washington Square is Talula's Garden. Talula's is an amazing farm to table Steven Starr restaurant, telling a story with every dish they serve you! The kitchen changes their menu seasonally, depending on what produce is in season. All are welcomed by their diverse menu of small plates, entrees and vegetable dishes (each extremely well considered). Currently on their spring menu, if I was to choose my favorites they would definitely be their Salmon or New England Scallops entree, with a side of their Roasted Beets! Getting hungry just thinking about these, wow.
Any questions? As true foodies, the ladies of the GOOD Festival have been just about anywhere you can think of in our favorite city. It was so hard to pick a top 5! We hope you love exploring the city and trying our favorite spots!
See you all soon xoxo,
Sienna
